Perhaps you need to dress up for a new job interview, or maybe you just want to look nice while dining out during vacation. Regardless of the reason why, we have some suit etiquette tips to help you look your best.

Button Up Your Double-Breasted Suit!

The general etiquette for double-breasted men's suit is that they should always be buttoned. There are certain types of suits that are okay to wear unbuttoned, but double-breasted isn't one of them. If you plan on wearing this type of suit, remember to keep it buttoned. With that said, you don't have to necessarily button up all of the buttons. If your suit contains more than one buttons, just fasten the top button and don't worry about the rest.

What About Single-Breasted Suits?

With single-breasted suits, you can either button it or leave it unbuttoned. There's really no proper etiquette to follow when this type of suit. If you're uncomfortably hot, unfasten the buttons to provide more breathing room. On the other hand, fasten up the buttons if you're chilly. The great thing about single-breasted suits is that you can button them or leave them unbuttoned -- it's completely up to you.

The Scoop on Three-Button Suits

While there are always exceptions to this rule, etiquette for three-button men's suits state that the bottom button should be left unfastened.  This means you can choose to fasten the middle button, the top button, or both the middle and top buttons, but not the bottom one.

Matching Socks

When choosing dress socks to wear with your suit, you should select a color that matches your trousers. If your trousers are light grey, for instance, wearing a similar light gray-colored socks will allow for a more cohesive appearance. This simple fashion tip will prevent your outfit from clashing while improving your overall look. Of course, these are just a few of the many etiquette rules associated with men's suits. Above all else, though, remember to choose a suit that's tailored to fit your body. No two men have the same body, and as such, different suits tend to fit differently.
