Fashion Mistakes To Avoid When Wearing a Suit

A suit is essential item that every man should own. Whether you're dressing for a new job interview, going to a formal party, or just taking a vacation into the city, you'll eventually find yourself in need of a suit. Of course, you'll want to avoid making the following fashion mistakes when wearing a suit.

Wearing Brown and Black

Going back to the basics of fashion 101, you should never wear brown and black together. These two colors are great when used by themselves or with other matching colors, but they clash when worn together. If you're going to wear a suit with a black jacket and trousers, avoid wearing brown shoes or vise-versa. Following this simple rule will place you miles ahead of the rest, ensuring your appearance is uniform and easy on the easy.

Too Many Accessories

There's nothing wrong with accessorizing your suit with a classic wristwatch and cufflinks, but you should keep the accessories to a minimum. Far too many men go overboard with their accessories, wearing several different pieces of jewelry. When it comes to suit accessories, however, the "less is more approach" is usually best. Wearing just a few simple pieces of jewelry will enhance your look without taking away from your suit.

Suit Doesn't Fit

If you're going to wear a suit, make sure it's properly tailored to fit your body. No two men have the same body type, and as such, different suits will fit in different ways. Granted, you may get lucky and find a suit that's perfect for your body type in a retail store, but these are usually few and far between. This is why it's a good idea to have your suit custom tailored to fit your body.

Casual Shoes

I always cringe when I see guys wearing high-end suits with sneakers or other casual footwear. Suits are formal, and therefore your shoes reflect this formality. Avoid wearing your everyday tennis shoes and instead opt for something a bit more formal. A pair of leather loafers is the perfect choice that you really can't go wrong with -- assuming they match the color of your suit.

Wrinkles

We've all been guilty of this before: wearing a wrinkled garment. Unfortunately, de-wrinkling a suit isn't as easy as tossing it into the dryer for a couple of minutes. If you want to fully remove the wrinkles without placing your suit at risk for damage, you need to have it dry cleaned by a professional.
